Ribble Tech Motorhome MOT & Servicing Specialists

Clitheroe’s number 1 Service centre for Motorhomes in the heart of the Ribble Valley

Motorhomes that weigh up to 3500kg fall into the category of a Class 4 MOT. An MOT for a motorhome over 3500kg should also be Class 4. However, some Class 4 MOT centres may not have the capacity or equipment to test it, so it can be a good idea to take it to a Class 7 MOT centre.

Here at Ribble Tech we have the capacity and equipment to cope with all large motorhome MOT requirements.  As with cars, once a ‘motor caravan’ reaches the third anniversary of its registration, it requires an MOT on an annual basis.

Defects found during the MOT are categorised as either dangerous, major, minor or advisory ‘Dangerous’ and ‘major’ defects will result in a fail, while ‘minors’ are not considered severe enough to fail the test. Advisories are similar to ‘minor’ defects but indicate that a component will become defective soon.

When is my Motorhome MOT due?

Not sure when your Motorhome MOT is due? You can use the governments helpful MOT checker tool to find out and they can even send you a reminder close to your MOT due date through email.

Checking the MOT history of your vehicle can tell you other details about previous tests, such as:

  • If the motorhome passed or failed
  • The mileage when it was tested
  • The date of the test
  • Any failures or minor issues reported
  • When your next MOT is due

Now that you understand what an Motorhome MOT is and why it’s essential for your vehicle’s safety and legality, don’t let your MOT expire!

Motorhome MOT & Servicing Ribble Valley

Servicing your Motorhome

Ribble Tech understand some of the difficulties and concerns when arranging for your vehicle to be serviced. On one hand most Motor Homes and Camper Vans are based on a standard manufacturer chassis (Mercedes, Peugeot, Fiat, Volkswagen Renault, etc.) and can be serviced at their specific franchised dealer. However on the other hand most main dealer centres are not equipped or prepared to deal with larger Motor Homes.

At Ribble Tech we have taken the time to understand some of the specific requirements of Motor Home owners and the specific modifications modern Motor Homes have. Our Class 7 ramp will lift the majority of Motorhomes on the market to ensure we can safely service & maintain your vehicle to the highest of standards.

Often electrical systems are highly specialised with secondary batteries, mains site hook up and charging systems, sometimes these are further complicated with the addition on Solar and even home fit modifications. You can confidently book your motorhome service online with us today!
